There are many large and small hotels/motels to select from along the Esplanade and Kings Road area as well as outlining areas including Cape Breton University (CBU).

The convention venue will be held in the historical north end of Sydney. This area was founded in 1785 by Col. J.F.W. Des Barres and first settled by Loyalist from New York State, who were later followed by the Scots from the Scottish Highlands. Two of Sydney's oldest historic houses have been restored as museums, and are a short stroll from each other on Charlotte Street and not far from our convention centre. Cossit House the oldest in Sydney and Jost House are open daily to the public.

Within the boundaries of CBRM is the Community of Louisbourg wherein lies Fortress Louisbourg, National Historic site and also the site of the first lighthouse built in Canada by the French in 1733-34.

Cape Breton Island has been rated one of the best islands in the world to visit and just recently National Geographic Traveler has named the Cabot Trail one of its 50 drives of a lifetime, as it named the world's most scenic routes.
