When arriving or departing by car for the 2010 CVF Convention in Sydney Cape Breton, visit the Village of Baddeck, make this one of your must see locations.
Baddeck is located on the shores of the Bras d' Or Lakes off Trans Canada Hwy 105 by taking either Exit 9 or 10
BADDECK - LIGHTHOUSE EVENT

This walk event begins at the Telegraph House Hotel at 479 Chebucto St., Baddeck.
There is ample parking on the street in front of the hotel an adjacent parking lot and the Tourist Information Centre across the street.
Features the Lighthouse on Kidston Island, Alexander Graham Bell Museum and a glimpse of his home at Beinn Breagh across the bay, Graham and his wife Mabel can be seen on a park bench viewing the bay as well.
After doing the walk event in Baddeck continue east on the 105 to Hwy 125 to the Community of North Sydney:

Our walk event begins at 9 Baird Street, Clansman Motel, North Sydney, 902-794-7226.
A stroll through the urban community of North Sydney, boardwalks, views of Sydney harbour and the ferrys going in out of the harbour to Newfoundland.Many old and restored homes along the harbour front, business area and shopping malls as well.
This event also features an alternate route using the Trans Canada Trail, details are featured in the walk box.
LOUISBOURG - LIGHTHOUSE & CENOTAPH/WAR MEMORIALS EVENT

From Hwy 125 take Exit 8 to Rte 22/ Sydney-Louisbourg Highway and follow the signs to Louisbourg where Route 22 continues as Main Street, Louisbourg.
The walk event begins at Peck's Convenience Store, 2 Wolfe Street, Louisbourg, 902-773-2210.
The walk features a War Memorial, Louisbourg Harbour, the community of Louisbourg, The Sydney and Louisbourg Railroad Museum, views of Fortress Louisbourg, A picnic/rest area overlooking the harbour and the Fortress Louisbourg. The walk will take you to the Louisbourg light and the site of the oldest Lighthouse in Canada and the second oldest in North America.
Before or after the walk take a tour of the National Historic Park of Fortress Louisbourg the largest historical reconstruction site in North America. Costumed animators, Drums and Fifes, military displays and old world style restaurants with the new world flavour add to the excitement of a visit to this 1750's French Fortress that protected the French interest in the New World.
GLACE BAY CENOTAPH/WAR MEMORIALS EVENT

Follow Hwy 125 to the last Exit and continue right (East) on to Hwy 4 and continue straight to Glace Bay. Route 4 continues into Glace Bay as a 2 lane road as Resrve Street, the CO Op Gas Bar is on the right just a short distance from the traffic lights and just before the Fire Hall.
The walk event begins at the CO Op Gas Bar, 99 Reserve Street, Glace Bay, NS.
This is a moderately easy walk that features several community parks and walking trails, the Cape breton Miners Museum and Miner's Village Restaurant, coastal trail, Glace Bay Harbour where you will see fish and lobster boats and their crews working in the harbour and off shore as you walk along the banks of the Atlantic Ocean. The war memorial is located on Union Street as well as the old Savoy theatre. The Glace Bay Heritage Museum/old town Hall is located on McKeen Street along the walk event route. Take your time and enjoy the walk.

From the Trans Canada Hwy (Rte 105) take Exit 20E to Rte 125, following the directions to Sydney and Louisbourg. Take exit 6E to King's Rd and Sydney.On arrival in Sydney, King's Rd takes a sharp jog right, then left and becomes the Esplanade.
The Start Point is located on the left at the Cambridge Suites, 380 Esplanade.
The Sydney walk event features a boardwalk along the Sydney harbour, the big fiddle at the cruise ship pavilion, heritage site in the northend of Sydney, Wentworth Park and the Baille Ard Nature Park and trails.
The convention venue is located a short distance from the Cambridge Suites, The Esplanade continues straight along the harbourside and eventually becomes Ortona Drive.
